YEREVAN. – An Armenian delegation led by capital city Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, which is in Lyon, France, at the invitation of Lyon Mayor, Senator Gérard Collomb, and to attend the events being organized within the framework of the Lyon Festival of Lights 2012, held several meetings as well.

The avenues for broadening the partnership relations between the two sister cities were discussed during these talks, Yerevan Municipality Information and Public Relations Department informs.     

On Thursday, Margaryan met with Bernard Rivalta, the President of Sytral company, which manages the urban transport system of Lyon. The mayor briefed Rivalta on the current situation in Yerevan’s public transport system, and noted that the application of Lyon’s transportation track-record will be welcome in regulating Yerevan’s transport system. In his turn, Bernard Rivalta expressed a readiness to introduce their methods to their colleagues from Armenia’s capital city. They agreed to send a specialized team from Yerevan to Lyon.    

Prior to this meeting, however, Taron Margaryan discussed tourism development issues with Lyon’s Armenian Deputy Mayor, Georges Képénékian. Margaryan noted that Yerevan stands ready to examine all proposals toward developing tourism and to lay a practical foundation for cooperation prospects. In his turn, Képénékian said they will endeavor to assist in the activities to develop tourism in Armenia’s capital city.
