The press service of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that one out of eight potential candidates for president of Armenia, is the leader of the National Accord party Aram Harutyunyan, who previously did not submit the receipts pledge of 8 million AMD (about $20 thousand). On January 8 Harutyunyan presented the receipt of payment of deposit to the Central Electoral Commission.

Note that among 15 nominees for president in Armenia only eight candidates have paid the amount of the election deposit: the incumbent president, the leader of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan; the leader of the National Self-Determination Union Paruyr Hayrikyan; leader of “Heritage” party Raffi Hovannisian; the leader of “Freedom” party Hrant Bagratyan; political advisor to the network of civil society “Refugees and International Law,” ex-Foreign Minister of Karabakh Arman Melikyan; unemployed epos scientist Vartan Setrakian; and director of I-radio Andreas Ghukasyan.

At today’s meeting of the Central Electoral Commission it was decided to grant, under the Electoral Code, 48 hours to fill the documents submitted to the CEC, in particular, to provide proof of payment of deposit of 8 million AMD.
