YEREVAN. – The electoral process in Armenia is going constructively, within the framework of the working legislation, and in accordance with democratic principles. Moldovan MP and CIS Interparliamentary Assembly’s election observation mission coordinator, Alexander Stoyanoglo, stated this during Tuesday’s press conference at the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia.

He noted that he is in the country to carry out a long-term observation mission in connection with the forthcoming presidential election in Armenia. In his words, an Assembly experts’ team will be in the country during the entire election season.  

“Representatives from the parliaments of all CIS countries will follow the election. [Around] 30-35 MPs, who will directly follow the election process, are expected to arrive,” he noted, and added: 

“I must confess that the laws which regulate the electoral process in Armenia are quite thorough, and the work that is carried out is in line with the current legislation.” 

Alexander Stoyanoglo expressed a hope that the February 18 presidential elections will be held along the lines of international standards and democratic norms.
