Russia’s fears that NATO expansion and deployment of ABM systems do not reflect the reality, said NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen after the talks with Russian FM Sergey Lavrov in Munich, VESTI reports.

“I have to say that new doctrine does not reflect the actual situation… NATO is not Russia’s enemy,” Rasmussen stated.

According to him, new Russian military doctrine, that lists inter alia military threats for RF NATO expansion “definitely conflicts with all our efforts in mending NATO relations with Russia.”

On Feb. 5, RF President Dmitry Medvedev approved military doctrine that stipulates as the main external threat for the country allowing preventive nuclear strikes against potential aggressors, including NATO forces approach to RF border.
