YEREVAN.-  Head of EU delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea said today development cooperation with Armenia is more active than ever.

The new EU center opened on Thursday in the center of Yerevan to become the EU communication hub (photo).

“We have more than 80 EU funded projects promoting reforms in Armenia on human rights, trade and economic development, migration, culture and many other topics,” Hristea stated at the opening ceremony, adding that letting people know about the efforts of the EU and its Armenian counterparts is of utmost importance.

“This center will be at the heart of EU communication in Armenia,” he emphasized.

The center if a professional communication facility that coordinates communication activities of the EU funded projects in Armenia. It will serve as an EU information pint and will be open to the public this spring.

“We are hear to explain what EU does and why,” said Ehtel Halliste, Team Leader of the project. She believes informing people about the achievements of development projects will increase public confidence in the EU and promote EU activities.

The center’s website which will service as a gateway to Armenia-EU cooperation was presented during the opening.
