YEREVAN.- There is no information about deployment of U.S. military bases in Uzbekistan after the country left CSTO bloc.
CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha said it is for Uzbekistan’s leadership to make decisions.
”As far as I know, there is still no decision of the leadership [of Uzbekistan],” he said during a round-table discussion organized by RIA Novosti.
He added that Uzbekistan was a very important partner for the organization, and it is now difficult to implement various programs without it. However, Bordyuzha said Uzbekistan’s withdrawal would not have a major impact on the bloc.
Organization of the Collective Security Treaty was established on the basis of the Collective Security Treaty, signed on 15 May 1992 by the CIS member states. After Uzbekistan’s membership was suspended in December 2012, the bloc includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
