YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Friday received Ambassador Takeshi Hikihara, Special Representative of the Foreign Ministry of Japan for Caucasus and GUAM, Deputy Director-General of Japan’s Foreign Ministry European Affairs Bureau.

Nalbandian noted that the Armenian-Japanese relations were marked by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s official visit to Japan in 2012, and added that bilateral cooperation is expanding further, Armenian MFA press service informs.   

Also, Armenia’s FM extended his gratitude for Japan’s technical and financial support to Armenia to further develop the country.

The interlocutors reflected on matters with respect to organizing consultation meetings between the MFAs of both countries, enhancing cooperation within international organizations, stimulating trade and economic interaction, and developing cultural ties.  

Also, they exchanged views on several regional and international issues. 

Furthermore, Edward Nalbandian briefed the Japanese diplomat on the efforts being undertaken by Armenia and the international community to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this context, Ambassador Hikihara reaffirmed that Japan supports the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ efforts to resolve this matter by solely peaceful methods.
