YEREVAN. – The ruling Republican Party presidential candidate, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan on Sunday visited  fellow candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union (NSU) Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan, who is at capital city Yerevan’s Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center as a result of a gunshot wound after a recent assassination attempt.

During the brief talk, Sargsyan asked about Hayrikyan’s health condition, the NSU leader’s assistant, Vrezh Zatikyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“They spoke solely about Hayrikyan’s health condition, since the president was very annoyed by the conflicting news being disseminated with respect to Hayrikyan’s health. The president had come to see what was happening,” Zatikyan said.

To note, Paruyr Hayrikyan, together with his representatives, on Sunday submitted to the Constitutional Court a formal request to postpone the presidential election—which is slated for February 18—for two weeks, on the grounds of insurmountable obstacles that are standing in his way. The Court has to consider this petition within four days.
