YEREVAN.- Armenia’s National Security Service uncovered a case of extortion of large amounts.

Citizen of Armenia Karen Simonyan, introducing himself as an international terrorist, tried to extort money from director of the Yerevan international airport Zvartnots Juan Pablo Guechigian.

In the period from 21 January to 14 February he was sending e-mails to Guechigian and his family, threatening to kill them and demanding AMD 80 million.  

Karen Simonyan was arrested on Thursday, when he tried to realize his criminal intent. A criminal case was initiated.
