YEREVAN. – There is very sound information that, following the presidential election to be conducted on February 18, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) could become a part of the ruling coalition again, but this time this will take place in a more “civilized” manner, 168 Zham daily reports, referring to its own sources.

“Accordingly, PAP will not receive [any] seats in the future Cabinet, but rather the office of the Mayor of [capital city] Yerevan.

The PAP could win the Yerevan Council of Elders election to be held in May of this year. And if this happens, there will be PAP-member mayors in Armenia’s two large[st] cities—Yerevan and Gyumri—plus the [serving] PAP-member mayors of Ijevan, Sisian, and Abovyan. As a result, it will turn out that the majority of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia will live in the communities that are led by PAP-member mayors.

This scenario is being discussed at PAP, where they do not rule out that the party chairman, Gagik Tsarukyan, could head the PAP proportional [voting] list in the Yerevan Council of Elders election,” 168 Zham writes.
