YEREVAN. - February 18 is going to be the day of the people’s struggle for their future, the presidential candidate and leader of Armenian Heritage party Raffi Hovannisian said during his meeting with voters this Saturday.

Hovannisian said that he understands the state of the people, who, during these 20 years have lost the hope to have fair elections, but urged all to go and vote, and persuade to come with them other citizens who do not believe in the possibility of holding fair elections.

“I do not think that Serzh Sargsyan wants Armenia to step back, but I will not let anyone, even Sargsyan, to call our desire to improve the condition of the people a gamble. I appeal to Serzh Sargsyan, the head of his campaign Hovik Abrahamyan, all governors and mayors, I ask them to stop distribution of electoral bribes, as if they commit violations – and there are cases of voter intimidation – then they all will be punished by law. All those who break the law, who apply pressure against the citizens of Armenia, must be kicked out,” Hovannisian said.

The candidate also noted that, among other reforms, he intends to take steps for the Armenian Apostolic Church not to interfere in politics and go about their duties.
