YEREVAN. – The turnout for the voters of the Presidential Elections of Armenia as of 8 pm., the time the polls were closed, was 60.05% of total number of voters. Overall, 1 million 518 thousand 407 voters voted in Armenian Presidential Elections, said the Chairman of Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission Tigran Mukuchyan.

In the Armenian capital city of Yerevan voted 53.99% of the voters (445,338), in the second city of the country, Gyumri, voted 50.6% (63,545) of citizens, who have the right to vote, in third city, Vanadzor, the number was 53.6% (51,736).

Data on voting activity by regions is as follows: 

Aragatsotn region: 63.6% (72,696)

Ararat region: 73.92% (157,506)

Armavir region: 56.92% (127,845)

Gegharkunik region: 69.06% (128,796)

Lori region: 60.15% (143,053)

Kotayk region: 59.15% (137,561)

Shirak region: 57.92% (132,793)

Syunik region: 65.5% (71,899)

Vayots Dzor region: 62.65% (29,597)

Tavush region: 65.73% (71,317)

Thus, the voter turnout was by 2% lower compared to the Armenian parliamentary elections of May 6, 2012, and by 9% lower compared to the previous presidential elections of 2008.

Note that on Monday the Presidential Elections were held in Armenia. Seven candidates were running for the presidency: the incumbent President and leader of ruling Republican Party Serzh Sargsyan, the leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian, former Armenian Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan, head of the Association National Self-Determination Paruyr Hayrikyan, political scientist Andreas Ghukasyan, former Karabakh Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan and epos specialist Vardan Sedrakyan.
