YEREVAN. – There is information in recent days that American-Armenian mobster Armen Kazarian, who is sentenced in the US, will be brought to Armenia in six months, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“To note, the New York Federal Court sentenced ‘Thief-in-Law’ Armen Kazarian to 37 months in prison. According to the ruling, Kazarian is to serve three years of supervised release and pay a $60,000 fine. Kazarian, who lives in Glendale, pled guilty to racketeering, which he was engaged in at the Mirzoyan-Terdjanian Organization, an Armenian-American [organized crime] enterprise. Armen Kazarian is known by the nickname ‘Pzo,’ and he is in the US since 1996.

[But] our anonymous source in Los Angeles claimed that Armen Kazarian cannot be extradited to Armenia, since he was issued a [US] Green Card as a citizen of Azerbaijan.

‘He is deported solely to the country where he came from, and Armenia cannot receive—as a result of extradition—the resident of another country,’ the source informed,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
