YEREVAN. – “Being a conscientious political force, we [that is, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA)] have never resorted—and, naturally, will never resort—to steps that could create additional tension in our country.” RPA spokesperson, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov issued a statement with such content.
“Having no desire to become an involuntary participant in the exploits that are full of unconstitutional calls, the Republican Party of Armenia foregoes its event that was earlier planned [to be held] at [capital city Yerevan’s] Liberty Square.
We are confident that we will celebrate together very soon, at that place which is symbolic for our people, the triumph of liberty and democracy we recorded in our country during the [Monday, February 18] presidential election of the year 2013,” Sharmazanov further said in his statement.
