YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian’s visit to Vienna got underway on Monday, MFA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

On the same day, Nalbandian held talks with Michael Spindelegger, the Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for European and International Affairs (FM) of Austria.  

The Austrian FM noted that bilateral relations between Armenia and Austria are developing, and this was marked by Austrian President Heinz Fischer’s official visit that was paid to Armenia. In his turn, Nalbandian noted that numerous meetings are held on the level of FMs of both countries, the consultation meetings between the two MFAs have become regular, and the legal and contractual framework has expanded.    

The Armenian and Austrian FMs reflected on the course of implementing the arrangements that were made during the Austrian president’s visit to Armenia, and the preparations for Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s scheduled visit to Austria.

Nalbandian and Spindelegger also spoke in detail about the avenues for broadening cooperation, enhancing bilateral interaction within European and international organizations and invigorating interparliamentary ties, and exchanged views on regional and international matters.     

Upon the request of the Austrian side, Nalbandian also presented details with respect to Armenia’s and the international community’s efforts to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. 

On the evening, Edward Nalbandian delivered a presentation, entitled “The Foreign Policy Priorities of Armenia,” at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (DA).

Before the presentation, however, Armenia’s FM met with DA Director Hans Winkler, during which they discussed the avenues for expanding cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and the Armenian MFA Diplomatic School.
