YEREVAN. – The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) annulled the previously planned rally to be held in Liberty Square on March 1.

After learning that Heritage party will hold a rally in Myasnikyan Square on the same day, ANC urged its supporters to hold a demonstration there instead of gathering in Liberty Square.

“Considering the March 1, 2008 tragedy’s anniversary as a demonstration of intolerance against violence and underscoring imperative of common manifestation of people’s will, ANC does not consider it appropriate to hold two events simultaneously and is announcing suspension of the rally and march, and is urging supporters and members of ANC to gather and pay tribute to the victims in Myasnikyan Square,” the statement reads.
