The National Electoral Council of Ecuador on Friday issued the official results of the country’s presidential election that was conducted on February 17.

Accordingly, 57.79 percent of the constituents voted for the incumbent, Rafael Correa; banker Guillermo Lasso came in second, with 22 percent; and the country’s former president, Lucio Gutiérrez was third, with 6.1 percent of the ballots that were cast.    

There is no need for a presidential runoff, and Correa, who was first elected into this office in 2006, will govern Ecuador for four more years.
