YEREVAN. – During Armenia’s presidential election, numerous opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party members, especially the ARF-member village prefects, openly worked in favor of ruling party candidate, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan. What is more, they announced about this in the press, too, Zhoghovurd daily reports.   

“And this, in the case when ARF had decided not to nominate a candidate [of its own] for the presidential election and not to support anyone. And before the election, it issued a statement calling upon the supporters to go to the polling precincts and to vote for anyone, except for the government candidate Serzh Sargsyan.    

Why did the rank-and-file Dashnaktsutyun members not heed ARF’s call? To this question by Zhoghovurd, NA [National Assembly] ARF Faction leader Armen Rustamyan gave such answer: ‘Instead of discussing important matters, you are pursuing petty matters,’” Zhoghovurd writes.
