YEREVAN. – A series of civic forums got underway Sunday at Armenian capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square. Sunday’s event was moderated by opposition Armenian National Congress MP Nikol Pashinyan, who recorded that a new political situation is created in the country.    

Pashinyan reflected on his previously-made proposal of forming a shadow government, and noted that they have written around seventy names that could become members in this shadow government and contribute to Armenia’s development.   

He also noted that the nomination—in this government—of the political team of opposition Heritage Party leader, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—who is declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote and who declared a hunger strike on March 10 at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square—is automatically clear.  

But Pashinyan also read several other names as potential members in this shadow government. 

“We are just proposing to form a new government. These are tactical matters, and [solely] one man is empowered to resolve this matter: Raffi Hovannisian,” Nikol Pashinyan noted.   

In his turn, Hovannisian stated that the aforesaid series of civic forums will continue for ten days and, subsequently, he will express his respective view.
