YEREVAN. – Following Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s recent press conference, Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) toughened its statements and directed them against Premier Tigran Sargsyan and the government he leads, Zhamanak daily reports.

“To Zhamanak’s question as to why PAP directs its target of criticism solely toward the PM, even though global economic matters are resolved in our country at the level of the President, PAP spokesperson [Tigran] Urikhanyan responded that he does not think so. ‘In his official capacity, the PM is responsible for the economy,’ [he said].

In that case, why do they not demand from [Serzh] Sargsyan his [that is, Tigran Sargsyan’s] dismissal, who [that is, the President] stated several days ago that he sees no reason for ‘making cardinal changes.’ That is, it is Serzh Sargsyan who decides on staff changes.

‘It is the political force that makes changes. I see the [ruling Republican Party] RPA as a serious party where collective decisions are made,’ [Urikhanyan responded,]” Zhamanak writes.
