YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia on Thursday allocated 20,500,000 drams (approx. $50,000) to the Health Ministry to pay for the costs of ex-presidential contender, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan’s medical treatment to be conducted abroad.   

The amount will be allocated from the Government reserve fund.

To note, Hayrikyan was wounded as a result of an assassination attempt that was staged against him on January 31 and during the campaign season for the presidential election that was held on February 18. He still is treated in capital city Yerevan medical facilities but, for a full recovery, it is advisable that Hayrikyan continue his treatment abroad.    

According to preliminary calculations, Paruyr Hayrikyan’s treatment abroad can be carried out for around $50,000.
