YEREVAN. – With a court decision, Vrezh Galstyan—who had broken in the Armenian National Assembly (NA) building on March 22—is taken to Nubarashen Mental Hospital, the Special Investigation Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, a man sustained a gunshot wound as he tried to carry in a knife into the NA building on March 22. The man managed to enter the courtyard of the parliament, at about 2:30pm, and started voicing threats. The parliament’s security officers ordered him to throw the knife, but he disobeyed the order. Subsequently, the security officers fired shots in the air, but the man still did not follow the order. Consequently, the police officers were forced to fire at his leg. The NA physician provided medical assistance to the man until an ambulance arrived. The knife was confiscated, and the wounded man was taken to hospital.
It was found out that the person that unlawfully entered the NA area was Masis city resident Vrezh Galstyan, who was born in 1988. According to preliminary information, he has twice been convicted before.
A Special Investigation Service (SIS) team was dispatched to the scene of the incident, and the necessary investigation was conducted. As a result, the SIS launched criminal proceedings against Vrezh Galstyan, and the respective investigation is in progress. On Monday, the court sentenced Galstyan to two months.
