STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), or Artsakh, President Bako Sahakyan on Tuesday visited the NKR Foreign Ministry and attended the consultation meeting devoted to summing up the MFA activities for 2012 and the 2013 action plan.

Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan and persons in charge of the ministry departments delivered reports, Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President informed.

President Sahakyan noted that, overall, the NKR MFA succeeded in fulfilling the tasks that were set during the reporting period.

Touching upon the country’s foreign policy agenda, the President noted that it remains unchanged, with respect to the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani conflict, international recognition of the Artsakh Republic, and the development of multilateral ties with a variety of countries being the ultimate priorities. Sahakyan also gave respective instructions to properly implement the relevant activities.

The President also stressed that the informational-propagandistic domain was of particular importance for fulfilling the key issues of the foreign policy agenda, and the main stress here should be put on the dissemination of accurate and truthful information about NKR and different domains of its life, and on intensifying battle against the adversary’s fake propaganda. The President emphasized that here the country should abandon the position of reacting and, instead, become very proactive, even more so since NKR has all respective ethical, legal and political grounds.

Sahakyan also considered significant the activation of NKR’s diplomatic activity in foreign economic relations, which likewise will give an additional impetus to the socioeconomic development of the country.

Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan noted that the challenges of the NKR MFA, and the avenues toward improving the working and social conditions of the ministry staff will remain at the focus of the country’s authorities.
