GYUMRI. – At the initiative of a group of residents from Armenia’s City of Gyumri, a march will be held, from Gyumri to capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square, to take part in a rally to be held there on April 9—that is, the day when President Sargsyan is scheduled to formally swear in for a second term in office, and also when opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian plans to swear in, at Liberty Square, as Armenia’s new president.

“This is a protest whereby we express our dissatisfaction with the large-scale fraud during, and the official results of, the presidential election that was conducted on February 18.

“We will fight until justice prevails. Heritage Party Vice-Chairman Armen Martirosyan will accompany us all through the march.

“We will start the march on [Sunday,] April 7, at 9am, from Gyumri’s Theater Square. The residents of all cities and villages on the Gyumri-Yerevan road may join us along the way.

“This march is a civil initiative that is carried out within the law,” the march organizers’ press release states in particular.
