The U.S. is ready to launch talks with the leadership of North Korea urging them to abandon provocations, John Kerry said during his trip to the Far East.

Washington chooses the way to move to the negotiating table and “find a way for the region to have peace”, he said after talks with Japan’s FM Fumio Kishida.

“We are confident that we can address the concerns with respect to their security and find ways together with China and the Republic of Korea and Japan and Russia and the members of the Six-Party Talks, we can find a way to resolve these differences at a negotiating table,” he said.

During his trip, Kerry visited Japan, China and South Korea to hold talks with the contries’ leadership. One of the issues discussed during the meetings was North Korea.
