YEREVAN. – I am very pleased to meet with Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland at the threshold of a very important development for Armenia—the start of the country’s chairmanship at the CoE Ministers’ Committee. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated this on Wednesday, when receiving Jagland.
Sargsyan extended his thanks to the Council of Europe for its assistance to the ongoing reforms in Armenia, the President’s Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Subsequently, Thorbjørn Jagland and Serzh Sargsyan discussed the priorities of Armenia’s CoE Ministers’ Committee chairmanship, and the Action Plan. The President assured the Armenian government’s assistance to the ongoing reforms.
The interlocutors also examined the important matters on the CoE agenda and the modern-day challenges, underscored the measures aimed at combating discrimination and intolerance, and reflected on the regional processes and the prospects for resolving the key existing problems.
