During his visit to Azerbaijan, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby will discuss the EU-Azerbaijan relations, and regional problems, reported Trend News.

Issues of regional security, Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and Armenian-Turkish reconciliation will be discussed.

“Partly the purpose of my visit is to make contacts and prepare visits of a number of new senior officials of the European Union,” he said. During his three-day visit, Semneby will hold meetings with both government officials and NGO representatives.

Speaking of the progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, Semneby said that it can be hoped for, “but time is running out.”

The situation in the region is changing, the status quo cannot last forever, Semneby said. He expressed hope that the momentum which was achieved last year will produce concrete results.
