YEREVAN. – Armenian businessman Khachatur Sukiasyan issued a publication where he submitted proposals for Armenia’s economic development, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

‘“I believe it is possible to implement a program which I would call the ‘armenianization’ of the economy,’ Sukiasyan wrote.

He proposes to create, with joint efforts by the government and the businesses, a productive mechanism, under whose conditions the goods being imported to Armenia would be smoothly replaced by the same [but] locally produced goods. This, as per Sukiasyan, must be carried out as a result of studies, owing to which it would become clear as to which Armenia-produced goods will be competitive.

At the same time, Sukiasyan considers it wrong to create artificial obstacles before imported goods.

Sukiasyan [also] pointed to the problems that will come about during ‘armenianization.’ And above all, as per Sukiasyan, this is the absence of quality workforce. But he also offers recommendations as to how this problem should be solved,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
