YEREVAN. – The biggest problem in marriage protection is that the married couples are not aware of the rights and responsibilities the institution of marriage establishes for them.
Armen Yezekyan, the head of the Department of Law at the Armenian Academy of Management, said the aforementioned during a press conference on Saturday.
In Yezekyan’s words, to become aware of this reality, there exists the concept of age qualification.
“It is apparent that the age qualification for marriage in Armenia is 18 years of age. But experience shows, and it is my personal view, that it should be raised all the way to 21 years of age,” Yezekyan noted.
He added that practice shows that marriages at an early age often end up in a divorce.
