YEREVAN.  – Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan received on Wednesday newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Armenia Suresh Babu.

During the meeting, Mayor Margaryan pointed at high level of Armenia-India relations and underscored importance of strengthening ties with New Delhi and other Indian cities. He recalled the 2008 memorandum on cooperation between Delhi and Yerevan provided a good opportunity for cooperation in various areas.

In his turn, Ambassador Babu noted Indian side’s interest in developing provisions envisaged by the memorandum. He expressed confidence that due to Mayor’s consistent efforts, the city will become more attractive for tourists and foreign investors.   

The sides discussed plans to establish an Indian park in one of the districts of Armenia’s capital.

Mayor of Yerevan said dozens of park areas will be renovated across the city as the municipality is working to expand green areas in the capital.
