YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan, on Tuesday received the delegation of International Finance Corporation and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Minister welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation. During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest, such as necessity to improve mechanisms of reducing damage from mining industry. The sides mentioned as a priority urgency of introducing new technologies and using experience of international environmental expertise.

The Minister emphasized the importance of ongoing processes around Amulsar gold mine, noting that it is necessary to meet international standards to preserve biodiversity of  Jermuk resort town, the water basin of Lake Sevan and surrounding areas.

The sides agreed that the industry should not damage the environment.
