YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Friday visited the British Embassy on the occasion of the Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.
President congratulated Ambassador Jonathan Aves and the embassy staff on the national holiday. President Sargsyan reiterated Armenia’s willingness and readiness to develop relations with UK in all fields. He noted intensification in political dialogue registered during the recent years.
Speaking about high-level visits, Serzh Sargsyan pointed out the recent visit of Simon Fraser, the Permanent Under Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as well as Prince Charles’ trip to Yerevan which was perceived by the Armenians as Royal family’s attitude towards Armenia. President noted that the Armenian people highly appreciated such attitude.
Ambassador Aves shared president’s assessment of bilateral contacts, underscoring importance of development of economic ties in parallel with political dialogue.
The sides stressed that political relations can be firmer on the basis of effective economic cooperation. They discussed development of Armenia-UK relations and deepening of economic ties.
