YEREVAN. – The attorneys of Armenia began a strike on Monday, Chamber of Advocates member Ani Torosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
She noted that the barristers met at a capital city Yerevan hotel on Monday—and along the lines of the strike—, during which remarks were delivered and the attorney’s voiced their concerns. Speakers from the judicial department likewise were invited to the event.
A total of 201 people joined the lawyers that are on strike, and others joined them during these discussions. The barristers will be on strike on Tuesday, too.
“We are planning to raise the issue in the media, [and] in a variety of platforms, as much as possible,” the attorney stated.
In Torosyan’s words, the judicial department still maintains that legislative changes are needed concerning the matter, whereas the barristers argue that changing the tactics of the courts and the judges is more important.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the matter refers to the working “lottery” rules in terms of filing a complaint with the Court of Appeals, when chances of whether or not a complaint will be accepted are unpredictable, plus an explanation for the respective decision is not provided.
