YEREVAN. – Head of the Armenian Control Chamber Ishkhan Zakaryan introduced the report on 2012 activities during the parliament session on Thursday.
However, the report aroused questions of the MPs and, in particular, Speaker of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan who asked to name officials who were punished for the violations revealed in the checkups of the Control Chamber.
In response, Ishkhan Zakaryan told about the violations registered in construction sector and purchases for the state agencies.
His answer did not satisfy the Speaker who insisted there is an impression that no one is accountable for the violations.
“Prime Minister must take serious steps, the officials involved in forgery and misappropriation must bear responsibility,” he added.
In his turn, Vice Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov asked whether there are criminal cases on the above mentioned cases.
In response to Zakaryan’s assurances that the Control Chamber is not dealing with the punishment measures, Sharmazanov stressed they must be given power to punish corrupt officials.
