YEREVAN. – It is better to buy tour packages from the companies that work directly with the receiving side, instead of from the intermediaries.   

Rector Robert Minasyan of the Armenian Institute of Tourism stated the abovementioned during a press conference on Wednesday. He added that in this case the brokerage services will not be included in the price of the trip. 

In his words, an attention should be paid to the peculiarities of the prices of the tourism services in Armenia.

“One of our main problems is that the hotels and the other recreational facilities [in Armenia] offer less extra services to their patrons; a rest is not solely the [hotel] room and the [hotel] bed. When our tourism industry realizes this, the appeal of Armenian tourism will increase substantially and the prices will be reasonable,” Minasyan added.  

He also expressed a conviction that the recreational services in Armenia need to be based on contracts.  

“If a [tour] operator does not properly perform the services specified in the contract, sanctions should be imposed against it,” Robert Minasyan concluded.
