YEREVAN. – The information about a large number of “captured” and “hostages” does not correspond to reality.

Armen Kaprielyan, head of the working group of the Armenian State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on the data which the Azerbaijani state commission had issued.

In line with this data, there are allegedly 4,033 Azerbaijani prisoners of war, missing persons, and hostages.

“The information is false; it does not correspond to reality; it is not confirmed by any factual data,” Kaprielyan stressed.

He recalled that there is solely one captive in Armenia today. He is Azerbaijani military serviceman Firuz Farajayev, who had crossed into the Armenian side last July.

“The [Azerbaijani state commission’s] figures are absurd. They, too, realize that the differences [in these numbers] give a reason to believe that the Azerbaijani commission is issuing unverified data,” Armen Kaprielyan concluded.
