Turkish government condemned the decision by the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the United States House of Representatives to adopt Resolution #252 on recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

“Turkey shows regret over the decision by the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the United States House of Representatives to adopt Resolution #252 on recognition of the Armenian Genocide. We criticize the bill, accusing Turkish nation without due grounds. The people contributing to the adoption of the resolution ignore historical reality and treat the issue with political and unjust color. Along with historical mistakes, there are also one-sided views in this resolution. At all times, the intervention of politicians in history had a negative impact. We have serious concerns that despite our warnings, the adopted resolution will damage U.S.-Turkey relations and will bring Armenia-Turkey relations to a deadlock. We recall Namik Tan, Turkish Ambassador to Washington to Ankara for discussions,” Turkish government statement reads.
