Armenia’s Permanent Representative to UN, Ambassador Garen Nazarian, addressed the UN Security Council’s session on Monday, which was devoted to the topic of sexual harassment during conflicts. 

The ambassador noted that it is impossible to resolve the aforesaid problem by just identifying, or condemning the perpetrators and it is necessary to implement fundamental changes.

As per Nazarian, this crime cannot be fought against without the full engagement by the women themselves. The Armenian ambassador added that women need to be involved in the discussions on genocide, impunity, and security.      

Garen Nazarian stressed that women and girls play an important role in peacebuilding.
