YEREVAN. – There are certain problems in the CSTO area which are affecting security of the states, but situation is stable on the whole, CSTO chief said.

There is no direct indication of any armed conflict and internal cataclysm in the area, he said during the press conference in Yerevan.

“Although, we note a number of threats, they are connected with activities of terrorist groups and extremist organizations, with the possibility of breakthrough of militants from Afghanistan into the territory of the Central Asia. They are related to the adverse developments associated with the repetition of the conflicts in the Caucasus. But, the CSTO is calculating its activities under these specific threats and, if necessary, the organization is ready to work together to minimize possible damage from emerging threats,” he said.
