YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with senior Armenian representatives of Ernst & Young accounting firm, which is one of the largest professional service firms in the world.

Sargsyan presented Armenia’s economic situation and structure, reflected on the challenges the country faces, the ongoing reforms, and the activities to reduce shadow economy in Armenia, the Government press service informs.

The PM noted that steps are taken to make the activities of Armenia’s large enterprises become transparent and controllable.

“The information about them needs to be accessible not solely to the state agencies, but to the public,” Sargsyan said.

The Premier informed that the next critical matter for the Armenian government is the decoupling of business and politics.

“We have taken the first steps here, too, by obligating 500 senior officials of Armenia—and their affiliated persons—to submit declarations on their property and income, and to make them public,” Sargsyan stated.

Also, the PM reflected on the various branches of Armenia’s economy and the ongoing measures to develop the civil society in the country.
