YEREVAN. – Middle East is losing Christian communities, Armenian political analyst Gagik Harutyunyan said.
The expert noted that the problem is not referring to Syria only, since the entire region has lost around half a billion Christians.
“Representatives of the Armenian communities are also leaving their places of residence,” head of Noravank center told reporters on Monday. On the whole, situation of chaos near Armenia’s borders, taking into account Turkey’s support to the Syrian rebels, is not beneficial to Yerevan.
Harutyunyan pointed at brutal killings of the militants, who have especially negative attitude towards non-Sunnis, which resembles genocide.
The political analyst refrained from giving forecasts on Syria crisis, adding that Syrian developments are unlikely to end soon.
