YEREVAN. – Armenia is a reliable partner of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Kwaku Aning, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, noted the aforesaid on Monday, during his talk with Armenia’s Deputy FM Ashot Hovakimyan.    

The interlocutors stated that the IAEA technical assistance to Armenia serves its purpose of technical re-equipment and insurance of safety at the Nuclear Power Plant of Armenia, the Armenian MFA press service informs.    

Underscoring his first visit to Armenia, Aning noted that IAEA attaches a great importance to the effective application of the control mechanisms. He also stressed that Armenia not only gains from, but makes an important contribution to the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme.    

In his turn, Hovakimyan highlighted that Armenia gives emphasis to the enhancement of relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency, in terms of ensuring the safety of Armenia’s nuclear power plant and building a new one in the country.
