YEREVAN. – The Armenian Ministry of Urban Development saved 1 billion drams (approx. $2,399,790) from construction activities, Minister Samvel Tadevosyan stated on Tuesday. 

In his words, the amount of this saving bespeaks the fight against kickbacks.

The abovementioned saving became possible owing to the fact that the tenders are now held online. In addition, oversight has been enhanced.    

Notwithstanding this, as per Tadevosyan, the calculation method for the value of the construction activities with the current prices needs clarification; but activities are carried out in this direction.      

Also, the present-day construction norms in Armenia need to be altered.
