YEREVAN. – Armenian State Migration Agency Chief Gagik Yeganyan told Haykakan Zhamanak daily that from now on the statistics on border crossings to and from the country will be made public on a quarterly basis, the daily reports.

“That is, the figures with respect to those leaving from and those arriving in Armenia will no longer be publicized once a month. [But] this decision should be seen not so much a surprise. The problem is that the aforementioned statistics enables to form an idea about the volumes and trends of emigration.

“And since emigration is increasingly gaining greater momentum [in Armenia], it was decided to ‘shut’ this information as much as possible and to lessen the frequency of the promulgations on the volumes of emigration. It is not difficult to imagine the extent the emigration [from the country] has reached,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
