YEREVAN. – The first private wind power station in Armenia is being prepared for operation.  

Khoyluntsner Company investor and general manager Ararat Khoylunts told Armenian News-NEWS.am that they plan to build this wind power station in Goris city of Syunik Region.   

Although other companies likewise have expressed an interest in building wind power stations in Armenia, the aforementioned investor is the first who is prepared to adjust his plan within the confines of the proposed state fee.

A small wind power station already operates in Armenia, but it is state-run and it was built through means provided by Iran.    

As per Khoylunts, his wind power station will a have a capacity of 2 megawatts and the potential investments will total €2 million. 

“Several European companies are already interested in this wind power station. Everything will become clear in October. I am helped by two skilled advisers; one [is] from Armenia, the other [is] from the Netherlands,” Khoylunts explained.

The company plans to start construction in 2014.
