YEREVAN. – Armenia’s National Security Council (NSC) Secretary, coalition government’s junior partner, Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party Chairman Arthur Baghdasaryan is in favor of the full operation by the Control Chamber (CC), Baghdasaryan himself stated during a press conference on Tuesday.

“The Control Chamber is a fully functioning state structure. There was a healthy discussion, as a result of which relevant decisions were made. We favor CC continuing its full operation, and I am convinced that it would be so and the evaluations would be professional, not political,” Baghdasaryan stated.       

As for the remarks concerning the “plundering” of the state budget, the NSC chief did not agree with such statement.

“There are shortcomings, misuse that need to be exposed and corrected,” Baghdasaryan said. 

As Armenian News-NEWS am informed earlier, the recent CC report and its chairman Ishkhan Zakaryan’s assessments—with respect to cases of misuse of the state budget—received great public resonance and a quite harsh evaluation by President Serzh Sargsyan.

In line with the Control Chamber conclusions, a significant portion of the state budget of Armenia is at risk.
