YEREVAN. – Hasmik Grigoryan, along with her two daughters, returned to Armenia from Germany in April 2013.
Grigoryan used to have an ex-USSR passport. She applied to the Police Passport and Visa Department with a request to be issued Armenian citizenship passports for her and her daughters. But there was a delay in the issuance of the passports.
Grigoryan petitioned to the Human Rights Defender. The ombudsman sent a letter to the Passport and Visa Department to obtain clarifications. The department informed that Grigoryan’s two daughters were recognized as Armenian citizens.
Also, the department head informed the Human Rights Defender that, pursuant to the working regulations, the girls will have to personally apply to the passport office to be issued passports.
As a result of the mediation by the ombudsman, Hasmik Grigoryan is already issued an Armenian passport, and her two daughters will soon be issued their own passports.
To note, the person’s name and surname is changed.
