“A translator and I were at the debates on Armenian Genocide Resolution in Swedish Parliament. I wonder where the RA Ambassador to Sweden was at that moment, whereas his Turkish counterpart was in the chamber,” former Press Secretary of Armenian Democratic Party Ruzan Khachatryan told NEWS.am.

According to her, no representative of ARF Dashnaktsutyun or Republican Party attended the meeting, while they were present at the such discussion in the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs. “It is very outrageous, specially considering that the debates in the Parliament were heated. It may be assumed that this attitude was conditioned by Sweden’s principled position on March 1 events in Yerevan. The head of the Swedish delegation to PACE presented the draft resolution, where he fairly pointed out that RA authorities recoursed to illegal help of the nation.”

The oppositionist emphasized the role of Left Party of Sweden which consistently supported the recognition of Armenian Genocide for years. “An MP from the Swedish Left Party Hans Linde made a brilliant speech. We should just express gratitude to the Left Party, as well as other parties of the left coalition, which did their utmost for the positive results of the Armenian vote in the Parliament,” Khachatryan concluded.
