YEREVAN. – Armenian government decided to remove the term ‘gender’ from the Law on Equal Rights and Equal Opportunities for Men and Women.
During the Thursday meeting, the government approved bill proposing amendments to the Law which will be submitted to the National Assembly.
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan said the government offers to replace “gender relationship” with “the equal rights and opportunities for men and women.”
Asatryan recalled that Armenia has adopted the UN Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, but this document does not contain the term ‘gender’, too.
