YEREVAN. – Ruling regimes both in Armenia and Azerbaijan are not ready for concessions on Nagorno-Karabakh, sociologist Aharon Adibekyan said.

The only Azerbaijani candidate having alternative position on Karabakh was Rustam Ibragimbakov. However, Jamil Hasanli, not Ibragimbakov, was registered as a candidate of the opposition. Meanwhile, Hasanli’s position almost coincides with the stance of the ruling regime, Adibekyan said.

“Hasanli stands for making Karabakh a part of Azerbaijan diplomatically, while Ilham Aliyev is ready to use any methods to tackle the problem,” he added. The sociologist is confident that status quo, unsettled conflict, is the best option for both parties.

Azerbaijani presidential elections are slated for October 9.
